VEG-GAP presented in Rome at the first LIFE ASTI european workshop

The first European workshop LIFE ASTI was held in Rome on 5th-6th December. The aim of the seminar, entitled "Forecasts for the urban heat island      and the impacts related to heat and health in climate change and urban adaptation", was to carry out a first brainstorming and a mutual exchange of know-how among the experts of the sector. More than 50 researchers and stakeholders gathered in Rome, at the CNR headquarters, in order to discuss and identify opportunities that support and expand concrete and sustainable actions on the urban heat island effect.

The seminar has consisted in two main sessions of short presentations, which have been opened by a programmatic speech on the theme "Evidence of  the effects of urban heat islands from measurements and numerical modeling", held by Professor Dino Zardi of the University of Trento.

The participants in the first day of workshop presented various Life and non-Life research works and projects. Among them, Mihaela Mircea of ENEA,     who described LIFE Veg Gap’s characteristics, a European project that investigates the role of urban vegetation in improving climate conditions and

quality of air in the city.

The second day was dedicated to group discussions. The seminar has been a precious moment for future coordinated work and collaboration activities between LIFE ASTI partners, network partners and interested locals. After the morning session on the second day, a visit was organized to BAQUNIN,           the super site for the analysis of air quality at "La Sapienza" University of Rome.
